“Life is a succession of lessons, which must be lived to be understood.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Is it necessary to work on the rules to be a good sailor? Do you know your opportunities and obligations in every close situation with your opponent? By anticipating the evolution of the race you may put your boat in the position you want to have to get out the most of it.
How strong are you in a hearing, what is your strategy how do you best defend your position…..you don’t wan’t loose a good race in the jury room!
The rules are changing, in match race there are new calls coming up, umpires keep talking about situations which will then be interpreted and having an impact on the decisions on the water, the fleet races on principal events are decided in a medal race, where the rules to some extent are different, this are only a few of reasons .
Some of the teams I work with:
Sofia Bekatouro: 470 Olympic Champion,
Swiss Saling Team: Swiss Olympic Sailing Team
Polish Yachting Assosiation: Polish Olympic Sailing Team
CER: Centre entrainment de Regatte de Geneve
ISAF: International Umpire Seminar in Lugano
There is no point to invest recourses in athletes and send them to the Olympic games without a deep knowledge of the medal race rules where decisions are taken immediately with a limited chance for redress.
