Palma is over next step is China
The days here in Palma where special, Coppa el Rey is a amazing event with a high level competitors. Every time I’m sailing in this event I’m learning a lot this year was about Farr 40 sailing specially the mainsail trim on this boat.
On our race course we also had the two VOR 70 TELEFONICA racing and getting ready for the Volovo Ocean Race, amazin the speed of the canting keel yachts.
Another phenomena here in Palma is how late it get every evening, it almost seems a mission impossible to go for dinner before 9 and forget being out of the restaurant before 12. So it’s hard to be back home before 2 am but guess what I’m not half as tiered if I would do this at home.
Some say that the island Ibiza and Palma have a special energy…must be.
Yesterday when we left the harbor I finally managed to take a picture I was thinking of for quite some time. I like here lines if you look at it from the bow..

Count down for the games

Since a week I’m here in Palma sailing the coppa del rey on a Farr 40 . That all good but I’m the mainsail trimmer on this boat and this mainsail is so huge and hard to trim that my arms really start to hurt.
The entire year I went almost once per week to the gym and training my upper body in order to be fit to hold up the big lenses and the heavy cameras and now I’m using all this for the mainsail trim.
Soon the coppa will be over and then I’m heading home for a few days before flying to Qingdao and beside the arms I think I was a great to do few days racing before getting again behind the camera despite the results here in Palma are probably the worst I ever remember.
The level in the IRC class is extremely high and most of the boats are crossing the finishing line within 2 minutes and with our rating it’s kind of a mission impossible to be up on the scoring but it’s real fun to be on such a boat in these conditions.
By the way here is a link with some images of our Farr 40
Now I have to speep a bit before we go and trimm aagin mansail for an entire day.
